RAIN, 2021

Ceramic materials have been used to construct buildings for thousands of years. To this day they are still some of the most widely used construction materials. In its high fired state ceramics is used for its strength, ability to withstand chemical erosion and resistance to extremely high temperatures. However, in its greenware state, clay is vulnerable to impressions. Rain that would otherwise absorb into an earthenware object or drip down a glazed surface, instead leave the greenware clay with clear impressions, recording the trace of rain.

This series was created whilst on the Project Network Residency at Guldagergaard International Ceramics Research Centre, Denmark.
